Southeastern Turfgrass Research Center began as Southeastern Turfgrass Research & Consulting in 2005.  The center’s site grew from ten to twenty acres in 2009.    By listening to feedback from customers and making significant continued investment in land, equipment, and personnel, SETRC has evolved to become the gold standard for confidential research centered on the turf and landscape industry.

The company was founded in 2005 by Dr. Mike Harrell.  Involved in the green industry since 1996, Mike has an extensive background in golf construction, golf maintenance, and turfgrass research throughout the southeastern U.S.  He has presented at local, state, national, and international meetings and conferences.  Mike currently maintains memberships with the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Kentucky Turfgrass Council, Southern Weed Science Society, and Bluegrass Golf Course Superintendents Association.
